"Instructions for living a life.
Pay attention.
Be astonished.
Tell about it."
-- Mary Oliver
"Life your life so well that death will tremble to take you." (Bukowski)
Never regret anything that once made you smile.
Earth is crammed with heaven. -Elizabeth Barrett Browning-
See the miraculous in the common. -Ralph Waldo Emerson-
This blog is my scribbles and thoughts, and I decided to write them down :
- First, so that I can remember them. Easy, simple and (yes) obvious.
- Second, as an excuse to have a blog. (And called myself a blogger).
- Third, so that this blog can become my life steps, my proof of being, collection of my treasured memories, my own life lessons, mistakes and experiences. (I am wise afterall, who'd have guessed?).
- Fourth, this feels like writing my own personal unofficial biography. (which is really really cool)
(Hm, a personal self help manual guide is more likely)(which's still okay ^^).
-Fifth, to make sense of what's going on in life.
- Sixth, to find a new hobby.
- Seventh, to express my creativity and explore my talent (or lack-of) for writing.
- Eighth, "to get my voice out there". (whatever that means).
Ps : this is also cheaper (free) than paying a shrink to hear me 'share'.
(Note : I dont have a perfect grammar)
So, this blog is a collection of
- things that I do/see/think/feel/like/learn
- the places that I explore
- the people that I admire
- the books that I read(the point is to read more books)
- the foods that I love (I'm a crazy maniac food eater)(I'm more of a live to eat person than a(n) eat to live person)(which type are you?)
- the moments that I truly treasure
- random quotes and interesting articles from websites and magazines
- Everything else that I want to be able to look back in the future and remember.
"In order to write about life, first you must live it." -Ernest HemingwayI am not the most academic person in the world (should have guessed the moment I mentioned my state of grammar). But I believe that the world is our school(everybody who hasn't a glowing academic report card will say so) (I learnt from them). But that's true Life experiences mean so much more than learning accounting law in classes. Documentary movies and non fiction books are real eye openers and I try to watch/read them often.
Some life experiences are bad, but Im sure one day I can read this back and understand that those little setbacks make and build my future self and I will be grateful.
We can't learn if we don't make mistakes, can we?
Some mistakes are foolish (and dumb) and by writing and reflecting (and re-reading it to check the grammar, spelling and punctuation mark) I hope to learn more about myself (and hopefully be smarter)! (tough luck sweetie pie).
And There are life moments which are amazing and I want to record it down here so i can relive it again years and years from now. (and again and again and again) ! :)
and again.
Yes, I know live for the moment, Do not dwell on the past, but I am born melanchonic and sentimental. So my (lazy) excuse will be that I can't help it.
I am female, late twenties, currently living in Sydney, previously lived in Jakarta and Singapore.
I'm the let's enjoy life today type of gal, lets enjoy fine foods, see the musical, kiss some boys and buy that beautiful expensive bag that cost my weekly wages, who cares if I am broke next week?
(ehm, your poor stomach?)
But I do have dreams and big hope and some sort of plan for my life, so I have to keep my feet super-glued to the ground sometimes (maybe even axed). And spend money wisely. And focus.
And again spend money wisely. (Also again focus).
For me, life is what we make of it, always has been, always will be. And 'To succeed in life, you need three things: a wishbone, a backbone, and a funnybone'. (Well we may as well laugh at our mistakes). (and our grammar). (no, my grammar).
My favourite advice from someone would be. Have a dream and chase that dream. Because when there is a will, there is a way.
Life is not easy, but that what makes it interesting and exciting, isn't it? Because we never know what will happen tomorrow. And the setbacks make the good time much sweeter and you kind of feel like you are growing into this wiser cooler lady. (said wiser, not wise). It's not the destination in life that counts but the journey. And it's not the amount of breathes we take that matters, but the moments that take our breathes away.
For me, dancing does that (and eating but dancing definately sounds better). I feel really really awesome-ly good when I'm dancing and when someone complemented my dancing, I'd be over the moon (and over the sun, star, sky, etc). My dream would be to be a really amazing (with perfect grammar) dancer one day. Someone who can make other people watching me want to dance as good as me one day. and my dancing can take their breathes away.
My favourite motto is 'Reach for the moon, because if you don't make it, you'll still land among the stars'.
Before I started this blog, I loved reading other people's blogs. They are interesting! (damndamndamn)(not fair) I hope to make mine interesting too. (somehow)
So, that idea kinda drags and pushes me to have an interesting life.
And A fullfilling life, a colourful life. A passionate life. A crazy (in a good way) life. And a romantic one too. (pleasepleaseohGodplease).
Learn from everything and everyone because wherever you look, there is always something to see
In the book of life, the answers aren't in the back. -Charlie Brown-
"Life is for living, not productivity."
Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
Life is too precious to be left to chances.
Be realistic. Always wish what is impossible.
Hide your craziness behind a beautiful smile. That's all you need.
Don't look for the next opportunity. What you have now is the opportunity.
The tragedy of life is not so much what men suffer, but rather what they miss. -Thomas carlyle-
A life lived in fear is a life half-lived.
FEEL THE FEAR AND DO IT ANYWAY
"Develop interest in life as you see it; in people, things, literature, music - the world is so rich, simply throbbing with rich treasures, beautiful souls and interesting people. Forget yourself." -Henry Miller
"When it's over, I want to say: all my life I was a bride married to amazement. I was the bridegroom, taking the world into my arms."
-- Mary Oliver
